I find that the only way people really learn is when they ask the questions. It seems they have to be ready to accept a new truth themselves or a defensive shield gets put up immediately. Almost like they have to be curious and discover and discern concepts on their own accord. Just a recent observation. It has been working lately for me, but I still plant seeds.(very subtley).

I agree that the best way to learn about anything is to ask questions--and I would think that if someone flat out asks you about your religion, you should answer their questions as best you can. Your stuff about people "accepting a new truth" gives me the idea that you go around foisting your religion on people, or, at the very least, trying to get them to discuss this with you. Perhaps you need to back off even more than it seems you already have. I wonder how you define "subtle."
The stuff about a "new truth" also concerns me. There aren't "new" truths. Truth is truth. There are different ways of viewing the truth, or different things that are accepted as truth by different people, but there needs to be an understanding of the difference between absolute truth and one religion's version of it. (Your religion isn't the only one that believes it's the only one that's got it right.)

I think it's best to whisper about your religion. I think it's great if people want to discuss their religion or ask for others' views. However, I hate it when people yell about their religion. What I'm referring to is the group of people that say things along the lines of, "You're not a member of my religion, so you'll suffer for eternity. Join me. I'll pray for you. Let me save your soul!" (I wonder if anyone has actually converted because they were yelled at by one of these people.)

Even though I think "yelling" is bad, it's not a problem when people share their beliefs nicely. It's great when people share interpretations of Bible verses and talk about the virtues of their beliefs. But when there is anger and intimidation, something's wrong.

Basically, this is what I'm saying: It's good to discuss your religion and share your ideas with the world. Just don't call people evil or stupid if they see things differently.

Speak the truth as you see it, but respect the rights of others to hold their own beliefs. Use common sense and a sense of common decency.

No atheist should stand up in a church or synagogue and shout at the top of their lungs, "There is no god!" Neither should a theist go to an atheist meeting and try to convert them. It's just not polite.

I think you do have a very valid point there. Some will mock the Bible until they are ready to open their hearts to it.

It's almost like an impossible task sometimes, don't you think? This is why I remind myself that helping children to learn about God and Jesus is so important.

I answer questions and gently broach subjects. Depending on the reaction, I will continue to change the subject completely
