Not really. People don't change their driving habits but they will complain about the gas prices. IT doesn't really make sense, but it is the American way. I consider gas prices and stuff, but when I gotta go I gotta go. I don't drive as fast as I used to but I think it is just that I am getting older not concerned about gas consumption. As far as the in-city driving, that is kinda silly. But some people drive faster and more aggressive than others and don't know it uses more gas. Ignorance is bliss.

The people that can afford to pay the ridiculous gas prices don't care, for instance, all the people that make the gas prices who probably don't pay for it anyway.
For us normal people though, the gas prices are just another way that those in power are raping America. Did anyone notice that over the 4th of July weekend gas prices jumped like 20 cents? It's just wrong. Because of the holiday and the fact that a lot of people would be driving around to do holiday things the gas prices were raised 20 cents.
It's the RAPE of the American people, these gas prices. If I didn't live across the street from my video store in smalltown, USA - I wouldn't be able to afford to drive to the bigger cities for a job.

I do think people care, they just aren't adding together the fact that racing from light to light wastes gas. I drive a hybrid car and I hate stoplights now, because I have to accelerate all over again, which drops my cool high mileage numbers (on the car's dash it gives an average of the miles you have racked up per tank, or until you reset).
So I do everything I can to avoid stopping at red lights, which normally means slowing down a bit to make sure I hit it when it's green.

If people were all rich then the gas price's would be out of this world, but on a scale of one to ten most people are not rich and work for a living, some with two jobs one to pay for the gas they use to get to both jobs and the other to get the main needs of survival. 'So no' they do not like the high prices, as for the idiot's who speed around with no place to go... well that's just it there idiots

We are not going to get lower prices by going slower. Chicago has put up thousands of 4 way stop signs on bus routes to slow things down. Like the more you use your brakes the more gas you save, yeah right. But to answer your question, no they don't because they are just too stupid to elect the right people who could do something about supply and demand. Starting a war with oil producing countries and putting our refineries out of business via the EPA is the problem not the solution.

I think people care. I think they are just frustrated. Most people can't afford to buy a vehicle that will give them great gas mileage and do the work they need to do. Why is it I can buy a truck that will go over 100 miles an hour, carry all of my tools for work and get 35 M.P.G. doing it in Europe? And I cant even buy a truck in the U.S.A. that gets 30 M.P.G. Why is it illegal for me to distill my own ethanol? Why isn't there tax credit for having your house totally solar? Why isn't every body's house totally solar?

Personally I do the gas prices are a little more than I would like to pay, I could spend the money on other things, but I have to keep my van, due to children, and work.

Um, I care 'cause my husband commutes about 90 miles a day round trip, so this gas thing is killing our budget. But I know what you are talking about, I see people do it all of the time. I don't think people realize how much gas they are wasting when they do this kind of thing.

But what is the difference when gas is $3.15/gallon instead of $2.00/gallon? Is they speed, they speed.
The point is, people don't need to spend their entire paychecks in order to fill up their cars. People don't need to choose between food for their families and gas to pay for the food.
It's too expensive.

Yes , I care, Gas prices have doubled in the last couple of years, my salary did not.
as for your other points, don't know, lots of people like to complain, but when it actually comes to it, old habits win.
