The Presidential Prayer Team has urged us to: "Pray for the President as he seeks wisdom on how to legally codify the definition of marriage. Pray that it will be according to biblical principles. With many forces insisting on variant definitions of marriage, pray that God's Word and His standards will be honored by our government."

Any good religious person believes prayer should be balanced by action. So here, in support of the Prayer Team's admirable goals, is a proposed Constitutional Amendment codifying marriage entirely on biblical principles:

- Marriage in the United States shall consist of a union between one man and one or more women.(Gen 29:17-28; II Sam 3:2-5.)
- Marriage shall not impede a man's right to take concubines in addition to his wife or wives. (II Sam 5:13; I Kings 11:3; II Chron11:21)
- A marriage shall be considered valid only if the wife is a virgin. If the wife is not a virgin, she shall be executed (Deut 22:13-21)
-Marriage of a believer and a non-believer shall be forbidden.(Gen 24:3; Num 25:1-9; Ezra 9:12; Neh 10:30)
- Since marriage is for life, neither this Constitution nor the constitution of any state, nor any state or federal law, shall be construed to permit divorce. (Deut 22:19; Mark 10:9)
- If a married man dies without children, his brother shall marry the widow. If he refuses to marry his brother's widow or deliberately does not give her children, he shall pay a fine of one shoe and be otherwise punished in a manner to be determined by law. (Gen. 38:6-10; Deut 25:5-10)

In lieu of marriage, if there are no acceptable men in your town, it is required that you get your dad drunk and have sex with him (even if he had previously offered you up as a sex toy to men young and old), tag-teaming with any sisters you may have. Of course, this rule applies only if you are female. (Gen 19:31-36)

What is your question? I am a married women of 13 years and we go to church. I had a religious ceremony before God, family and friends. Our marriage license is held in the county court house by the Probate Judge. I have heterosexual sex: man and women, with my husband and we have kids.

I believe people can't help being gay, but I don't believe that they should be married before God and a church. I believe they should have a civil union and be allowed to access insurance and benefits the same as a heterosexual, but not be allowed to get married. That is just my opinion and I will always believe it.

Taking all religious views out of it (although, I personally agree with them) the facts and studies show how damaging homosexual behavior has been to the children thus far.
Moral character and fiber is the main reason that same sex marriage should be kept intacted.
Check the internet and you will see what studies have proven about those who are exposed and practice same sex relationships and introduce them to children that aren't old enough to make a choice.

Why must you guys (for the most part) take only OLD testament verses?
Its been said over and over again Christians live and abide in the NEW Testament. We are no longer under that law. Its not a matter of "Pick and choose" its a matter of what is the standard.

Are you really that slow that you can not understand this simple fact?

LOL. Thanks for that.

I don't understand why they can't just say Marriage is between the couple and their church. The ceremony and blessing takes place there.

The government should recognise civil unions. If married people want to do that too, no problem. But then the religious baggae doesn't need to be applied to those not seeking a union within the church.

Did you know the whole thing is Bill Clintons fault. Up until his presidency, marriage was defined as Two people? He, under some mudane law, actually put in Man and Woman, just to make it clearer?

This is sooooo perfect.

I'm sitting here laughing my butt off.

The saddest part of all... there are probably people who think those should be written into law in the United States.

Some of what you said I agree with. But you need to learn the difference between events recorded in the Bible, and those condoned in the Bible.

Excellent points all of them. If they are going to use "biblical standards" then they must use ALL of the biblican standards.
Can't pick and choose. This isn't a salad bar we're talking about here...

I would prefer not to have Religious Based Laws. When that happens, you may as well join the Taliban.
