I agree with the previous answer. 12

To show my Bias, here are other ratings

Australia 10
New Zealand 10
US 8

Living here and visiting other places I really realize how lucky we are. Freedom to travel, REAL freedom of the press, the right to health care, good standard of living, low crime levels.

Industrialized and modern comforts, right next to pristine wilderness and outdoors. A vast variety of geography, cultures and people.

People hate Canada? Only 1 I know is JZ. Most others more don't know enough to hate us. BUT we need to remember not to hate others just as we don't want them hating us.

I rate it a 9. (I reserve 10 for the Cayman Islands.) I live near Cleveland, Ohio, USA. I love Canada. For the most part, the people are friendly. I like the Canadian side of Niagara Falls a lot better than the US side. I love Toronto. There's so much to do there. I worked in Windsor in the late 90s and loved the people that I worked with. I love Hockey.

My only small, silly complaint is that when we were staying in Belleville recently, there wasn't a good TV station for the weather forecast. Maybe that is because we were in a small town but they had a satellite dish. We have the Weather Channel here in the US and I missed the weather forecasts that show radar pictures of the storms.

I'd rate it at a 12.
We've done a lot of travelling, seen a lot of the world, and there is no place like it. Canada has some of the most beautiful scenery in the world, some of the friendliest people (the New Zealanders are the only people who come close) and opportunities galore.
It's safe, clean, friendly -- what more could you ask?

The people that hate Canada are welcome to discover a country that offers a higher standard of living and personal freedoms. I'm sure there are some that genuinely don't like the country, but from the millions of immigrants that have landed here over the years, I'd say it's a desirable destination.

Canada 9/10

INFINITY/10. Canada is an amazing, beautiful place with amazing people, free health care and low crime rates. All my family is here and everyone comes to Canada and their problems are solved (Draft Dodgers, Slaves, Emmigrants.) How can you say anything bad about a country about peace. Peacekeeping, hockey, beavers, ice in the winter, lakes in the summer it's all beautiful. I am proud to be Canadian living here.

well, i could make a more informed decision if i spent more time abroad, but for now, i'll give it an... 8! why? because of course we have problems. no place will get a 10 from me. why not nine? because as a Canadian I'm modest. i'm not going to flaunt our awesome qualities, although there are many! humility and manners, my friend. but definately nothing lower than an 8!! why? because we are strong, beautiful and free. How many nations can truely claim that? i'm modest, but damn proud of what we as a nation have managed to build, and i'd defend it at any cost. That's what Canada is. Not perfect, but unique, and important- and we don't have to prove it to anyone except ourselves.

I would have to say 8/10.
I give a -1 for high taxes that are not always spent wisely.
I give a -1 for nasty driving conditions in the winter,I really
hate driving and running into white out conditions !

I love it here because of all the diversity. There are some down points but as was stated previously...no one is perfect..the bilingualism thing works for some, not for most but it must be that way as we were founded in that manner.

10/10 with the exception of -40 winters..brrrrr
