Ingredients

* 1 large, ripe watermelon
* 1 bottle of good quality vodka

Direction

* Cut a hole in the top of the watermelon, just wide and deep enough to insert a funnel.

* Pour some of the vodka into the melon through the funnel.

* Leave the melon in a cool place to absorb the vodka.

* When the funnel is empty, pour in more vodka.

* Continue for a few days until the watermelon is saturated.

* Slice and serve ice-cold.

We carefully cut a whole about the size of the top of the vodka bottle. Plug the open bottle into the whole with the bottle up in the air. Let it sit like this until the bottle is empty. Plug the whole back up with the piece you cut off and tape it in. Every hour or so rotate the watermelon. This will help the vodka saturate the entire melon. Don't expect the melon to be firm when you cut it. The extra moisture just makes it really sloppy. It's best if you chill it really well before serving. We also used to take maraschino cherries and empty 1/2 of the juice out of the bottle and refill it with vodka, or amaretto. Let it sit for a few days in the fridge. Shake it up every so often. These are good too. You can put them in drinks or just eat them out of the jar. We forgot to tell my gramma they were booze cherries and she got sooo drunk off of them.

Use a basting or candy needle and inject the vodka into several different places on the watermelon.

The problem with watermelons is that they already contain so much liquid that putting the vodka into a single place usually saturates the area too quickly and you can't get enough vodka in before it starts coming out again.

You have to buy one of those marinade injectors for meat, fill it with vodka, and inject the watermelon at regular intervals. Terrible waste of vodka AND watermelon, IMHO.

cut melon in half length wise.
Empty contents and cut into small cubes.
Fill cleaned out half with cubes and pour favorite vodka over cubes to soak.
cover with plastic wrap and marinate in fridge over night.
unwrap next day and set out with bowls and spoons for family and friends to enjoy.

you take a giant watermelon
you cut a round hole out
you pour some vodka in, and you let it sit about
when it's time to party, please pass the watermelon out
thats what it's all about.

Inject it using needles and keep it really cold but not freezing. We used half a 26er. It was awesome.

Try searching google.
