Yeah that's great man. I used to smoke about a pack and a half a day and after about 4 months I was down to about a pack and a half a week. Eventually I quit. I lasted for 6 weeks. Now I smoke again.

I was actually thinking of trying to quit again. I'm back up to about a pack every two days...which isn't as bad as before, but I would like to be a non-smoker. Anyway, I guess I'm not really answering, just rambling.

Anyway, I think it's great, keep up the good work. Congratulate yourself and go at your own pace. You can do it.

I think it is a wonderful start! You are still at an increased risk for health issues, but you are learning how to get through the day without a cigarette every time you'd like one. I cut down before I quit, and it helped me establish different habits. Like driving w/o smoking, talking on the phone w/o smoking.......
In the end it's hard, but once you accept that it does get better. I haven't smoked in almost a year now, and I rarely miss it or even think about it anymore.
Keep at it!!!!!!!

Congratulations. You are off to a good start. Both my parents smoked, my father up to three packs a day by himself. I was a passive smoker since birth. I do not smoke but my health was affected. During the winter season I have trouble with bronchitis, that was my legacy, my eldest sister still has asthma, that is her legacy.

You NEED to be convinced you have to leave this habit, because if you still have reasons, no matter how trivial, you are prone to continue.

Have faith. It can be done.

yes you are so far...but you will need to stop completely soon..try some of the nicotine replacement stuff... you need to get out of the routine of lighting up...I used the nicoderm stuff and had reactions so I switched to a herbal replacement that actually worked alot better than the first stuff...and I was completely over the physical withdrawal in about a month....I somked 2 pack/day for 27 yrs...and this is the first time I tried to quit...so far its been 14 months without a smoke...

you should go cold turkey. i was a smoker for years & i just quit. do this: pick your most difficult day of the week. don't smoke on that day. if you can get through the hardest day of the week, then you can do it everyday. it sucks. it's hard. it's mind over matter. just do it, it'll be worth it to you. i haven't smoked since the year 2000. that's how i did it. oh, and the cravings never really go away. they just reduce. every now and again, to this day, i still think, ahhh a smoke would be great... but i resisit the urge (it's mild) but it's still there. probably for ever. i dunno. anywho - good going wanting to quit, it'll make everything in your life better. just wait!

If you do not make plans to quit completely you will end up smoking more than when you cut down. Just quit altogether.

I quit 34 years ago and to this day it was the best thing I have ever done.

30 ciggies a day to 10 in just 3 weeks? Not bad. I "stopped" like 2 months ago and I still smoke one or two every day or so.

Yes, but unfortunately, the only way to stop smoking and stay stopped is to STOP. You are on your way, but smoking even a half pack a day is not good for your health. When you do stop, you will feel whoosie and dizzy at times, but don't give in to that. You CAN and WILL do it!!

Chow!!

Yes, but just a start. Smoking tobacco is a tricky demon. You can go back to a pack and half by simply going out for a beer!

Excellent! You're doing a fantastic job, and keep at it. Pretty soon, you'll be down to a pack a week, and pretty soon, you won't even want to bother getting up to go smoke, and it will be a hassle to have to stop to buy them.

Keep up the good work, and good for you!
