I just read something about this in the paper. Apparently people with dark skin are less likely to get skin cancer however when they do get it it's likely to be more serious and life threatening than it is in white skinned people. So get the sun cream out.

No anyone can get cancer. doesnt matter if ur light dark or mid.
Cancer is caused by a cell that everyone has, what happens is it will start to divide into multiple cells and take over other healthy cells, thats how it spreads.
Skin colour doesnt protect at all, same as It doesnt matter if u smoke 40 a day or uv never smoked in ur life u can still get cancer!
Obviously smoking and direct sun increase ur chances

It is true that people with fairer skin are more susceptible to the harmful ultra-violet radiation from the sun, and are therefore more susceptible to skin cancer. However, you can still get skin cancer no metter the colour of your skin, but the chances may be reduced

Yes. Darker skin means you're less likely to get skin cancer. However, the latest research suggests that dark skinned people who do get skin cancer are more likely to die of it.

It's less likely, but it's definitely possible. People with darker skin tend to get acral lentiginous melanoma more often. It's a melanoma that starts in the palms of the hands or on the soles of the feet, or sometimes in nail beds.

Yes, they can still get cancer. The pigmentation in the skin does not block the UV rays.

Check out the BBC site below - research at Cincinnati University - absolutely yes is the answer. Radiation is radiation! and people of all colours should be using high-level sun block creams if out in intense sunshine.
Amazingly, you could say that a whole university research programme was executed to answer your question!

People of darker complexions tend to have more melanin in their skin which means they can absorb more without "burning" but damage is still being done...it's just more unnoticeable. Skin cancer is affecting people of all colors.
