Read "Guns, Germs and Steel" by Jared Diamond. It's about a foot thick and you could beat a whale to death with it but the basic jist is that the industrialised nations were just lucky.

There, now you don't have to read it.

It all depends on the people of that country. A few hundred years ago industry amounted to small shops where articled were made by the artisons and sold directly to the consumer.
Later the more ambitious built large buildings, hired workers, and peddled his finished product. This kept on growing until factories covering acres were built.
Many backward countries failed to follow that path. They got stuck in the Mid ages. Too suspicious to join forces with others of his trade in order to build factories. Many feel that they would rather be the sole owner of a shop making two pairs of shoes per week than to be a minor partner in a factory making thousands.
The risk factor often enters the picture. It's common in the industrialized countries for business men to borrow billions of dollars to start or improve fctories. Some won't take the chance.

These people are so completely wrong and I can see it in the leftist redistribute the wealth thinking. I'll tell you why and you're not gonna like it. Its called civic virtue. That is prosperous societies are a result of the people. A people that works hard, tells the truth, does not commit crimes against eachother, and values learning, economic progress, and eachother tends to advance more rapidly. (Japan is a great example of a non-western culture with a high civic ethic). You see the more corrupt a people are, the lazier, the more stupid, and the more cruel they are too eachother.

Oh and middle-east prosperity was a result of cultural prosperity from past peoples like the assyrians. Once Islam took over it lead the eventual decay of everything.

looking at history, we see that the answer usually lies in the political conflicts and war. When Islam provided the best education and science it was because they dominated their neighbors but fought little among themselves by comparison with their neighbors. Later, when Europe reformed their culture from one fraught with duels and skirmishes between provinces to one where laws and courts handled disputes and states worked together to form peaceful nations, then their advance began to overtake Islam. Islam still has the nasty tendency to handle their disputes personally especially among their leaders. That's why the vast majority of deaths in the Middle East are perpetrated by the hands of Muslims on Muslims.

In Africa, there are areas of tremendous success and there are areas of desperate squalor. The areas that succeed have relatively little war and the areas that are destitute are in constant struggle. Twice now the Hollywood crowd got together and did a big aid concert and sent millions of dollars worth of goods to help feed the poor starving in Africa. Both times the aid wound up in the hands of the armed forces controlling the region.

The Hispanic countries have similar problems. Their politicians and their people in authority have built a system rife with corruption. The businesses can't succeed there because if the authorities smell money, they begin to oppress them with required payoffs and other forms of squeeze.

Haiti has war, Brazil war, Cuba made themselves a threat to us so boycotts. And again rife with governmental oppression.
Look at Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Russia now that they're capitalists. Everywhere peace prevails the economy and the industry grow. Everywhere the government is accountable to the people, the economy and the industry grow.

There are historical reasons.. some countries have a head start.. you might as well ask why some countries colonized while others were colonized, or while some enslaved while others were the slaves.

Read upon history why middle east was the most advanced, in wealth, in civilization, culture and in sciences at one time (while we in the west were dying of plague and lack of hygene), but things changed around, mostly after agressive colonization.

Most great scientists and inventors, both in times of ancient egypt, or persia (the numbers you calculate with in match class are actually arabic, instead of roman), as well as europe, were only able to invent because they lived in a position of luxury in which they did not spend their entire life struggling to survive, but had plenty of spare time to ponder and invent, because they had others to feed them so they didn't have to preoccupy themselves 24/7 just to be able to feed themselves.

So, western advancement did not come initially because of these inventions, rather these inventions came initially because people were in a luxurious position of time and wealth to occupy themselves with things beyond their basic needs for survival. And this reinforced the head start of course, and still today, this headstard makes it easy to stay ahead.. by the time all middle eastern can afford a car, there won't be oil left for them. It's no different with wealth and poverty.. rich people have more means and power, to secure their position and grow them, than those on bottom. Without some international intervention based on ethical conciousness, this imbalance will only grow with time.

In the USA, you might ask why white people on average are much more wealthy than african american.. it is because the right with society of individualism, without decent social system that provides more fair equal environment and opportunities to kids, cause poverty (social class) to become more hereditary, so it carries on for generations and generations.

Read about british imperialism, of which america itself was the result of, .. as well as the fact that english now is world's #1 foreign language, in the afvantage of brittain and america, spreadng anglosaxan culture, which in turn is a prerequisite to push products into those markets..

The imbalance of advancement and power is and has never been a 'fair' race..
