There is no such thing as a teacup chihuahua. Nor micro, or any other term you hear. Chihuahuas come in varying sizes depending on the size of their parents. If someone is calling their dog a teacup, then they are just smaller than usual but in no way an actual term. Plus, when chihuahuas are puppies they are all small, who knows how big they will get. It depends on their parents. It's just straight "Chihuahua", the only different names for the breed refer to coat length.

Our pets need quality pet food. Read the ingredients list and learn what the stuff on there is and what it does (or does not do) to/for our pets. A quick pet food 101. If the pet food contains corn/corn products or by products it is a poor quality food. Do not pay attention to advertising, they all say there food is great. Corn is a filler that can trigger skin problems. (allergies, skin problems, itching and excessive shedding) By products is anything from an animal not fit for human consumption, including cancerous tissue. Quality foods have meat as the first ingredient. California Natural, Solid Gold, Innova and Merrick are a few of the best brands available. As she eats so little, what she does eat needs to be of the highest quality.
I recommend, Innova, Wellness, Solid Gold, Wysong or Canidae. All of these have great puppy formulas..they are availbale at most local pet supplies, but never at your grocer's.
Chihuahuas are also very intolerant of many chemicals, so be careful about feeding only all natural foods. (kibbles or canned)
Never give bacon, ham, wieners, or bacon flavored treats. Avoid treats that contain corn syrup.

For my female teacup chihuahua I feed her iams puppy food. Now that she is a little older (1year) I add in some of the wet iams food that comes in a packet, I add this in her dry food.

There is puppy food sold at pet stores, and even markets. They don't eat much, so depending on how old it is, mix in a little milk until it's consistency is right for it. If the dog is older it should eat it just fine.

Only give your puppy premium brand dog food. Do not feed it human food. I recommend Nutro, Natural Choice, or Iams. Go to Petco or Petsmart and they can advise you. I would also stay away from anything that had corn in it. Lamb meal and rice is what my dog eats.

Science Diet and Nature's Recipe are two premium brands that offer puppy food in very small pieces for small breed dogs. One of the brands, I can't think of which, actually offers breed-specific food. Ask your vet and check places like PetSmart.

Steamed or boiled rice and cooked ground lamb are good in small portions if you want to go the non commercial food route. My friend's little chihuahua eats chicken jerky from the market and loves it!

we always gave ours pedigree. they have these umm packets of soft food with gravy in them. theyre just big enough for puppys and itll get her used to eating solid depending on how old she is. after our teacups got older, we would give them the soft food every now and then just for variety, along with some hard food. they really loved them and you can usually buy them in boxes of 10 or 12 so theyre affordable and high quality

Personally I like Purina One, Lamb and Rice (Puppy Formula). If she cant chew the pieces just yet, then wet the food with water, that will make the food softer....
Everyone has their likes and dislikes....just find out whats good for your pup.
Good Luck
