I bought a Yaris in April. I love it. I did get the liftback though, not the sedan. It's extremely comfortable, cute - gets lots of looks and comments, gets great mileage (30 - 38 for me, depending on where/how I'm driving), and the seating in the back is quite ample according to all the adults who've ridden back there. I do hear it is getting harder to find them, though I think the sedans are more available. I understand that the recall affects many models, including the 2001 Yaris, not the current one here in the US. Also, my understanding is that the hybrids only make sense for the price difference if you will do LOTS of highway driving allowing you to get the optimal mileage out of the hybrid, thus making up for the approximately $10K difference between a hybrid and a compact like the Yaris.

Those are some nice little cars there but did you hear about the recall. The yaris and the corolla are the main ones affected by the recall. I read it had something to do with the cars steering. A family was driving the steering locked up causing them to get injured. So about 420,000 corollas and yaris got recalled around the world.

Anywayz, they are still good cars. Hope this helps.

I heard the waiting list is 3 months long here in Milw, Wisconsin but I did get a chance to test drive one and I thought it was great. I ended up with a 2003 Corolla instead (sigh) Good luck with your new car!!
