Your mom is right. Dogs definitely DO sweat a little through the pads of their paws. Sometimes you can see damp paw prints on a dark tile floor. But most of their cooling comes from panting.

According to the Southwest Washington Humane Society, dogs and cats have sweat glands on their feet. Maybe they're wrong, but I would tend to believe what the Humane Society says about cats and dogs.

Never heard of a sweaty paw on a dog. Dogs don't sweat.

Ahh...I just love people who answer questions who have NO idea what they're talking about.
Your mom is right!
Dogs do sweat out of their pads.
A few intelligent people have already left links...check them out.
The people who said that dogs don't should check out the links also... ;)

Yes they do - they only sweat out of the areas between the pads, thats why they have to pant.

Dogs don't sweat. Their fur acts as an insulator that keeps them cool and from sweating.

Dogs dont have sweat glands like we do, they pant to sweat, not out the bottom of their feet.
