Why do single moms have such a stigma?

As a single mom I get a lot of flack. Why do people look down on single parents? Is it easier if you have been divorced or if you've never been married?

I don't look down on single moms, but....

When I think of single moms, I think of:

women who are stressed out from raising a kid alone.

women who would be loyal to their boyfriends.

women who want to get married desperately.

women who really want their boyfriend to get along with their kids.

women who would do a lot to please a man she likes.

women who look at a guys finances more than his looks.

a date that is risky....if she likes me more than I like her...it may be tough to get away.

I think I would be more likely to date a single mom that has never been married than one that is divorced.
