I am 35 and have had three LARGE babies. I work out and only weigh 120 lbs. at 5'6, but my stomach is just not as tight as I think it should be. I also have stretch marks below my belly button from my first pregnancy when I was only 22. So my question is, is a tummy tuck worth it (with the cost, pain, and scarring), when you are not overweight, but just have minor loose skin and stretch marks? I was supposed to have the surgery back in May, but I chickened out. NEED ADVISE!!!

I just had a tummy tuck done on July 11th and I am VERY HAPPY with the results so far.

I had a twin pregnancy and C-section 3 years ago, and even after I got back down to my pre-pregnancy weight of 130lbs, people were asking me when I was "due!" My stomach was just so over-stretched, that it had lost it's elasticity and just hung there and looked awful. DIET and EXERCISE were not going to make it go away. So, for me it has made a HUGE improvement in my life....I have my self-esteem back and now I know that when I lose weight, I'll look good!

So - of your stomach is something that you feel is sagging and making you feel uncomfortable in clothes or uncomfortable with your body, then by all means....IT IS WORTH IT. (I think some people underestimate the importance of self-esteem.) I think on someone like you, who is not over-weight, it will make a big difference....(I have a little more weight to lose to get back down to my goal of 125!)

I didn't think the pain was bad at all, and I financed mine through Capital One Health Care Finance, so it was affordable. (See if they are available in your state too....I'm in Connecticut.) It will be a big scar....hip to hip....but mine is completely under my bikini / panty line.

Good luck! And if you have any more specific questions....feel free to contact me through my avatar link!

Personally it wouldn't be worth it for me if that was the only visual problem with my tummy. The risk of anesthesia wouldn't be worth covering up the minor visual flaws. All women have a pad of fat on their tummies. It is just a part of life, having kids, growing older.

Now, I had gastric bypass surgery and lost 225 lbs. I had a big apron of skin that hung halfway down my thighs - THAT's when you need a tummy tuck. And I got one.

What the above poster says about numbness is also true. It is 7 years later and I still have numbness in my scar area.

Cosmetic Surgery(including tummy tuck) is very cheap in India. There is one company that is very famous in India that arranges cosmetic surgery for foreigners in India. They are called the Forerunners Healthcare.I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories.I have also read that they arrange financing for international patients as cosmetic surgery is not covered by insurance or by the stinking NHS.

They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. The cost savings are incredible. As a doctor i personally believe that your cosmetic surgery can be easily handled in India as the quality of healthcare available here is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star .

My cousin got her tummy tuck done there and she is more than very happy with the results.sHe is all praise for this forerunners healthcare company. She paid just 30% of the cost what she was quoted in USA and it was like a wonderful vacation for her. .hope this helps

Is it that bad that you're willing to risk surgery. Think about the health risks. Plus do you really want a huge scar below.

You'll look sexy above but what about below.

Ultimately, it's you're decision. Good luck.
