No, coffee cake is just supposed to be eaten while you drink your coffee.

I am sure there are some cake recipes that use coffee in them, but the coffee cake has been called that as it is usually served with coffee. There are several flavors of these cakes.

No, any cake taste good with coffee can call coffee cake. My favorite is good old fashion walnut or pecan pound cake. How about tea biscuit, is there any tea in it?
