The far right in Germany is waking up - I read in the papers recently that there were some people burning bibles there. Russia is growing stronger and could soon be lashing out with formidable force. You have the Middle East fighting with enough firepower to obliterate several small countries. There is terrorism, which is difficult to fight with big tanks and armies. North Korea is testing it's nuclear weapons. China is also getting richer and more powerful. One of the UN buildings was recently attacked in the Middle East.

One thing is certain: Lots of countries are catching up with nuclear technology and there is enough hate brewing in the world for another big war to happen. I hope it doesn't happen. If it does happen, the war won't last very long and I think Stephen Hawkin has a point: How can we last for another 100 years? (I saw something about this on Yahoo yesterday).

I disagree with 'playtoofast' though. I don't think we should go 'playing God' with the Middle East. They hate us enough as it is and this would probably make things even worse. Also, how would we cope without the precious oil reserves those countries protect?

Seven seasoned soldiers have been summoned from Saigon
A craven walkie talkie puts their bloodshot armor on
Some drink beer milk, some drink kinky-kola
Sheep dogs live in Outeniqua
Gun dogs in Angola
Flames lick the corners of each hungry horseman's smile
They have locusts in their scabbards and deserts in their eyes
Passing through the air they leave a sea of fetid rumors
As they ride across the skyline on a secret trail of lies
Wanderers and nomads have gone to see their chieftains
Will this be the end of the rain and the birds?
Who can send an emissary to speak to the seasons?
For the ravens and the crows already soak up the skies

From the song "Digging For Some Words".

i hate to be all doom and gloom and reverse my position on war but we need to shake things up a bit and do some real damage in the middle east pull all the troops out and begin an areial bombing around the cities .then tell them to assemble all there weapons in a pile or face the destruction of the cities them selfs .massive explosive weapons on the perimiter would send the messege effectively and might restore order .I do not think these people know what weapons are capiable of doing .we have had chemical plant explosions that rock 50 square miles and i am sure we can rock them from 50,000 feet right out of there boots.
small arms is nothing to these people and we need to get serious if an end is going to come soon .
I want this crap over with once and for all .

We won't know until its over and the victor writes the history books. Until then, it'll be called the conflict in the middle east, the war on terrorism, the War in Iraq, the Great War, the Patriotic War, the Holy War, etc. I'm just going by the example set by WWI and WWII.

There will ALWAYS be conflicts and wars going on somewhere in this world. What's new? They're fighting in the Middle East, really?

The moniker "World War" I think is no longer valid. So, no, it's not WWIII. How will it turn out? Who knows. We are still feeling the affects of WWI.

Remember Einstein's saying:
"I do not know what weapons World war 3 will be used
but world war 4 will be faught using sticks and stones."
or something similar to that. If we really are in WWIII then nuclear bombs and missiles will be flying all over the world.

You should really study a bit of history ... this is nothing at all like WW1 or WW2 .. other than the US in Iraq and Afghanistan there is very little going on that is any different than what has been going on for hundreds of years.

You must be very young and not have seen any movies like "Saving Private Ryan" Most of the world is at peace!! The only reason we even hear anything is the news. Do you even know of anyone serving overseas right now?
