Hi! What do you call the relationship between your mother's cousin's kids and yourself?

I think they are your third cousins...

I am not sure, but your moms cousin is your second cousin I think, so your second cousin's kids would be your third cousins I think.

You know what I don't get... the whole "removed" thing. You know, like your "second cousin, once removed." What does that mean?

Relationships are based on the rankings within your family tree.

your mother and her cousin, equal generation, would be equal branches - first cousin

the off spring of both your mother (you) and her cousin (kids), would also be equal branches - second cousins.

the once-twice removed stuff comes in when your relationship with a relative on the family tree is NOT equal.

I am from a very large family with an aunt who is my age.

Therefore when her son (my cousin), hangs out with my son, because they are not of the same "generation", their relationship is first-cousin once removed.

Your mother's first cousin's child is your second cousin. Let's call him Bob.
Bob's child (Jack) is your second cousin once removed as you are not in the same generation as Jack is.

I just refer to them as my cousins.

I think technically they are second or third cousins but Im not sure. Its easier to simply refer to them as family.
