Why does doctors suggest 7-up to sip for an upset stomach? What in it makes it work? It has always worked for me but I was just wondering about this. It can't be because it's a clear liquid because they say water makes it worse. (water works for me but 7-up is what is usually suggested not water and not even sprite.

Ginger Ale works for me too. Never did like the taste of 7-up. When i worked with chinese people and I had a cold or the flu, they would boil ginger root and make me drink the juice and I felt better right away.
