They LOVE that seedy stuff on a stick. I think it is called thistle? It comes in a bag with several sticks of the stuff.

Birds need a more varied diet than just the seed mix that you get at the pet store. You should offer dark green leafy vegtables like romaine lettuce, fresh broccolli or kale, not ice berg lettuce which can give your bird diarhea. A small piece of corn on the cob is good. Whole grain breads, including corn bread are healthy. A small piece of hard boiled egg is good, too, believe it or not. Leave the shell on. You can try fruit, but I never had my parakeets show much interest in it. I would recommend having a cuttle bone in the cage for calcium. Good luck with your birds! They can be great companions.

My keets love fresh millet, which is really also an essential part of their diet. You can provide them with those Kaytee Treat Sticks..in flavors like tropical fruit and greens. Also, they appreciate the cubed fruit you can get in little baggies at PetSmart, such as papaya and mango..they are tropical birds, after all. Make sure they have a cuttlebone and some grit in a grit cup. You can give them regular keet seed, but if you want to spice things up, try Kaytee Fiesta.. One more thing I reccommend is a vitamin lick designed for parakeets..they sometimes come in fruit or veggie shapes to attach to the cage side..

I also have two parakeets as well and they absoulutely love the seeds on the stick that come in many different flavors including orange, kiwi, banana, and some others. They come in packs of 2 or 3 and are about $4 a pack. They can be found at Petland Discount and probably your local pet shop. Here's a pic of what they look like :]

Parakeets will flip for millet (tiny seeds on a stick), which you can give them every other day at most. The best treats, though, for any parrot or parakeet, are fresh fruit (mine like bananas best) and veggies (try pushing the pointed end of a thick carrot through their cage bars for an instant toy/treat).

The best treat for them is millet.....they are tiny seeds on stems and look like they are dried up. They are messy, but our two parakeets love them! They also sell bars that contain bird seed and small pieces of dried fruit. They like this too, but not as well as the millet.

Millet only in small, controlled quantities (it's very fattening! as are pretty much all seed-based treats and foods). Fresh fruits and vegetables are usually healthy -- avoid iceberg lettuce, celery and the like as these are mostly water. In the same vein, try baby food. Mine love it. Or try "cooked" treats such as "budgie butter" and "budgie bread." (One of the links contains a list of plants that could be potentially harmful to your budgie.)

Also, budgies do NOT need grit (I noticed someone above mentioned it). They are parrots which means they hull their seeds. Grit is not necessary and can cause crop impaction so it is better not to feed it.

there are all sorts of treats. you can go to the pet store and look for brands that actually have the word treat in it or you can look at differant grocery stores and see what they have. you can also go to a bird specialized store like omars, and you can get tons of treats for all kinds of birds there. you can also look on websites for treats and then ask the store clerks if they have those treats. you can also order them off the internet and they will be delivered to your home and they will be exacly what you want. you can go to www.omars.com and order it off of there. they have amazing treats that your birs will love. my bird loved it. you can also order a veriaty of kinds and see with one your bird likes the best. then you can order a ton of that kind. i did that with my bird and he loves 4 or 5 differant kinds. they really love them and you can give them one and they will love it so much that you tell him/her to do something.
they will then try to get the treat. you can then give them the ttraet and then hide one in your hand. he/she will then smell it and try to find it. when they find it you give it to them. then you do the same thing exept when they find it you give them an order and take it away from him. then as long as you know that he's trying, you give it to him.you do this until he gets it right or you think he did good for a day. hope one of these works for you. good luck with the training.

It's good to feed parakeets fruits and vegetables. Give it things that are moist and soft like apples, sliced open grapes, cantalope, watermelon, lettuce, and corn. Avoid citruses, avacado, and chocolate.

Apple slices is good for them and they like it. There are also some bars made of seeds stuck together with fruit juice at the pet shop. Hard boiled eggs if they like it.

I used to own 13 parakeets at the same time! For a treat I would feed them mango, apple, orange.lettuce, and peach. You know juicy things. But don't feed them to much greens. It gets them weak and they won't be able to fly well.
