After I'm done with college I want to move somewhere else, and I'm considering Canada as a possibility. What is life in Canada like as compared to the U.S.?

Aside from the fact we are predomiminately of English descent, our cultures differ greatly. Canada prides itself in it's ethnic diversity and recognizes minorities. There are 2 official languages here, French and English. We have a Prime Minister instead of a President. While crime rates in the major cities of both countries don't differ greatly, in Canada, guns need to be registered and one doesn't have the right to own one, like in the U.S.. Health care is provided in Canada free of charge although Alberta(one of our provinces)charges a monthly premium. There are alot of similarities between the 2 countries and we are each others biggest trading partners but we are more known as peacekeepers and the U.S. seems to be heading in the opposite direction. Your children must register for the draft in the U.S., while in Canada, it is still voluntary. It would be easy to say one country or the other is better, but I'll refrain from that. Each country has their good and their bad things about it. If you pick either one to settle in, you have made a good choice. Both countries have a great future ahead for them but Canada has more room to grow, while the U.S. seems to be building bigger fences on their borders and becoming more isolationalist and paranoid, especially if you are Muslim, Mexican and or from the Middle East. Our winters up here in Canada can be long and cold compared to alot of areas in the U.S. but the summers are nice and nowhere near as hot as our neighbours to the south. Good luck with your move wherever you decide to go.

Life in Canada is great. They're health care is nation-wide. But the taxes are higher. People are a lot more laid back, easy-going. If you like Ice Hockey or winter it's the place to be. Beautiful scenery. The mountains and ocean are amazing. But other then that life is the same. Same jobs and cities. Just a lot easier to get along with people and meet new people. Plus there are no real threats there. No terrorist or radical group want to blow up Canada. My saying is " Canada, the new Americas." I say go for it! ;)
