My guess would be no. I have seen that the scientist have taken bacteria from ice samples in antarctic that were for all intensive purposes alive. So I would assume Bacteria has a different type of life cycle than a multiple cellular organism. If bacteria can live on the bottom of the ocean and in the vents of volcanoes I'm sure a little ice wouldn't do them any harm.

No. The bacteria stays frozen in the water, and probably still alive. The only ways to sterilize water are by boiling, or in an emergency, you can add a tablespoon of either household bleach or iodine to a bucket water. If you let it sit for a day it will be safe to drink.

Yes. Just like when you freeze bacteria, it seperates it from the water.

not necessarily. the bacteria get frozen in the water and some bacteria cannot live in freezing conditions. Even though that may be true, sometimes that frozen bacteria, when it is unfrozen, can still be harmful.

it would just freeze the bacteria inside the water

Absolutely not. I work in a microbiology lab- we actually freeze our bacteria stocks and thaw them when we need to use them. I assure you freezing does *NOT* separate bacteria from water.

No. Some of the bacteria might die from the low temperature, but most of it won't. It will just become alive again when the water is thawed.

No it just stops the bacteria from moving or in other words it makes the bacteria sleep.

I don't think so, maybe it kills some bacteria that cant live in cold places, but i'm not sure.

absolutely not. you have to boil it to kill the bactera THEN freeze it.

I saw on mythbusters that most ice is even dirtier than toilet water, because people touch ice with their hands.
