I've noticed online that there are a lot of conceited people on the internet. Wherever I go, there is someone that states "I'm pretty" or "I'm hot" or "I'm a sexy 13 year old". I wonder, why do people feel the need to get attention online? Is their reality life that boring?

Im not just saying kids... but there are adults as well that post very provocative pics of themselves on blogs and Myspace, along with the kids.... We're grown and all, but still that's not a good model to follow either...

It could be that they are not getting the attention in their real life, so they came to a place where no one can see them, or judge them, to get what they need, attention on the net! Who can tell if they are telling the truth or not! or, they maybe are trying to tell that to themselves, indirectly! possible.
Is their reality life that boring? hum, possible.

These days almost everything revolves around sex. Alot of people feel like if they aren't sexy to others that they are social outcasts. Everyone has become obsessed with having the perfect body not for their health but for the attention from others. When they do get the attention and enough of it they become conceited and then there are those that are brought up that way. Ultimately there is nothing you can do about it except, like my mom told me when i was younger.... ignore them. there are alot of other people out there to talk to.

Correct. Kids seeking attention. This site gives them a forum in which they can say anything they want. I'm concerned that sexy 13 year olds may get connected to parverts out there trying to hook up. Its scary, I'm afraid they would get the wrong kind of attention.

They can lie online and don't have to second guess themselves. I'm sure 90% of those people would never say something like that in real life.

Most of the people you're talking about are young.....at this time in their lives they're supposed to think this way. They think the world revolves around them. Life is new and wonderful and exciting.......and everything is about them. That's how life works.

It's easier online because you can be anyone you want to be and make oneself feel better. Some insecure people feel the need, I suppose because they can't get the attention elsewhere!

the answer is yes, their lives really are that boring. and in fact, they have very low self-esteem... otherwise they wouldnt be on the internet seeking approval from strangers. their own opinions about their self worth means nothing to them, so they need justification from others. they are ignorant and immature. theres LOTS of people like that on here!

Because there isnt enough about them to be concieted in real life. They try to live in a fantasy world online.

I think they are too shy or not confident enough to get dates and attention in the "real" world, so they have to compensate by bragging online.
