Say the US pissed off EVERY nation, and all armed forces throughout the world attacked us. Could our own armed forces (all recalled from everywhere) defend the country? At the Canadian and Mexican borders? Both coasts? From the air?

Considering the vast majority of countries are using are old weapons, I would say yes. Let's just say there are no nukes involved, since this is a hypothetical question. Every Navy put together wouldn't equal ours. We would own the Air. The only problem I see is if we got invaded with troops.

They don't have to piss off every nation. If China and Russia would put their hands together todayand be bound determined, the US wouldn't stand a chance.

China is expected to become the next world superpower within the next 25-30 years. We'll be hailing to them instead of the US then. Most american investors have already pulled out their money and the US has world's largest national debt, billions and billions (not in the least because of how much tax dollars are poured into the weapon industry), america is living on a huge debt.. nothing you own is really your own, it's all owned by foreign countries.. If countries really were determined to destroy the US (and economic interests didn't keep them from it), the US could be destroyed in a lot more ways than millitary only. Look at the economic effect a hand full of people had by flying 2 planes in a building.. if the whole world would attack the US (americans only make up 4% of the world population, despite them wasting 40% of all of world's natural resources.. which means the US consumes like crazy and most of this comes from abroad! And if the rest of the world would live america's life style, only 10% could do it, and use up 100% of all the world's natural resources, leaving 90% without.. and trust me, you can't live on democracy alone) the US would starve.

In other words, the whole world economy would not cease to exist if the US would be excluded, but the US would become a 3rd world country if everybody in the world world pull out their investments out of the US, and stop selling resources to the US (or actually loaning it). Something most americans seem not to realize. They overestimate america's power and ability to be self-sufficient anymore. That is because most doesn't quite seem to realize how big the world really is (doesn't fit in your tv set). Travel the world some, and see that Amercia has built up great wealth and advancement since the 18e century, but been losing it against since the 60'ies. Half your businesses are owned by foreign companies.

And privately held guns are a joke.. they mostly seem to serve as population control within the USA itself. If push came to shove, those weapons would more likely be used in a civil war between americans themselves.

America has a lot of western GOVERNMENTS as an ally, for politican and economic reasons (as these countries themselves are too small to stand up against most asian or even middle eastern countries, both millitary and economically in case of serious conflict), but the majority of the POPULATION in these countries, do not support the US, even hate them.. And that even goes for the british, your biggest ally.

This was true for nearly all european countries, let alone the rest of the world.. There is a lot of facts that americans are denied and reporters who try to give it to you are fired from their jobs instantly.. by big business owned right wing media magnates.

I would probably say no.Just look at what happened during the 8-11 isn't it just a drill to test how strong is US to defend itself.Power? Definitely US unfailingly possess such tightening up to the extremes all security measures. All efforts however will be gone with the wind at the end as all actions they are doing intensifies the efforts of the enemies towards their destruction. As long as US is getting mightier it increases the craving of their enemies to put them down.Equal distribution of their military forces around the world has offered America lesser number of armed staff but this has no much impact on the level of security I suggest, but it increases their vulnerability from their "preys". That hurricane disasters has given a clear picture of an extreme decline in the systematic strategies of America.. For this moment,I will give an insight that at certain point unknown to anyone, might be another chapter in history as the fall of US not unless they will make some changes in things which entirety I could not grasp out of my thought at this moment. (I am not against America, infact I had some thoughts of going there on the earlier years of my time.)

That, I would have to say no.
Example: The innocent and impoverished civilians of Lebanon are being pummeled by Israel because of their government.
The thought is - Taking into account that the US hasn't made alot of friends in the past few years, What if the other countries decided to bomb our residential areas because they don't like our government. Given the news from the middle east, this is obvioously what can be expected when one country attacks another. Well I bet that all the glittering jewels of history that get their jollies from seeing people blown apart as though they were watching a hollywood movie would be the first to say how "surreal" is was.
I really hope that we don't get attacked by other counties because that's no image on a screen.

The US defence budget is the same size as the next approx 8 biggest countries. There are only 50 or so countries in the world with a sensible sized millitary (what's Monaco going to do if Bush pisses them off???) So the US millitary would find itself overwhelmed pretty quickly. They could do a lot of damage to the enemy but a 'Coalition to restore American Democracy' would eventually triumph.

Of course we could defend our selves! There are National Guard stations though out the country that are combat ready. We have nuclear subs all over the world and they would destroy the enemies before they could reach our land. There are anti-missile stations everywhere capable of destroying any missiles. Come on think we aren't defenceless you just don't hear about it.

I think we could, there are misslle silos everwhere and the ships are in every port. We have reservists on gaurd for anything, plus with all the gangs and there guns and the mafia, I don't think there is a problem defending this country..

Hypothetically, the US wouldn't even be able to defend itself from China

2'nd Amendment. 100 million privately owned guns. That could provide 100 million more militiamen.

I belive so. Our military is great, plus they would have to go through all the people that have their own guns too. As americans there is no way we would let anyone come to our land to take it over.
