First of all, ministers aren't paid directly from the tithe. Tithe is taken and divided accordingly throughout church needs - building rent, missionaries, etc. Staff is paid from a seperate account made for salaries specifically for them. And yes, they still tithe, since the money goes to missionaries and other places - not right back into their pockets.

I think they have to do the 10% tithe if they have seperate jobs. My preacher works in a plant and tithes that.

Interesting question...Some ministers give back some of their compensation to the institution they're working for and others don't because they see it as a conflict of interest. PEACE!

No one has to tithe. It's a matter of the heart. We are to take care of our pastor so he can dedicate his life to the ministry. Nothing belongs to you - God has put whatever you have into your hands through his grace; it still belongs to God. We tithe to give back "first fruits" whether it be time, talents, or money to show our appreciation to our Father for His gifts. God bless you. ~Nisa

If you give a minister $1, then he gives you back $0.1, then you give him back $0.01, then you end up with 9 cents and he ends up with 91 cents.

Maybe you should just give him 91 cents instead and save all this back and forth hassle. Of course, then he would have to give you back $0.09 and you would have to give him back $0.01 of that, meaning you are out of pocket $0.83.

Continuing this process, we arrive at the final amount you should give, $0.00.

I understand they do. Many faith-based ministries also tithe to another ministry.
