My fiance and I LOVE the movie "The Notebook" and would love to have some things that remind us of that time period and setting in our wedding.

We want to have it in the country with a country feel (but not gingham check tablecloths and lots of sunflowers). More elegant, but still a country feel. Probably outdoors at sunset, lots of candles, maybe mason jars with candles in them hanging from the trees. My favorite color is blue, especially aqua blue and turquoise.

Any other ideas for how to pull this off, including invitations, attire, decorations, favors, cake, etc. Anything that reminds you of "The Notebook". We don't want to go so far as to quote lines from the movie, but just want the feel of that time and place.

Thank you in advance!

Why not go all the way and make it a very 1940's / 1950's affair, with your hair and makeup.

I would also suggest incorporating the geese somehow, even having a few wandering about??

Can you arrive on a boat, holding a parasol?

Maybe even have a small boat, or canoe turned on it's side, piled with ice, holding beer and other drinks (it sounds trashy, but I've seen it done really nicely)

Also, have a band instead of a DJ.

String lots of paper lanterns in the trees, and play 1940's style music.

The only thing that I can think of is to somehow incorporate the swans into it. I know they make glass centerpeice swans that can hold things like perhaps a candle or flowers. They also make a nice two swan cake topper out of crystal. The swans were a part of the movie and if you read "The Wedding" which is the sequel to The Notebook they have Ally come back as a swan, if you read it you'd understand how romantic it is. The only other thing I can think of (especially if you don't like swans!) is to do as the person above me said and incorporate the style of that time period into your dress and attire, maybe find some tea length style dresses for your bridesmaids and look up some different wedding gown styles for that time period. Good luck, I"m sure it will be great, and candles are ALWAYS a great way to go, we had them at ours and it really pulled everything together!

Congratulations!

Awesome Idea. I haven't seen the movie though but I love that author Nicholas Sparks. Try to dress like the characters, with the same style of hair, dress etc.
