A friend tried to convince me that after milk is pasteurized it becomes condensed and is then blended with water to create what we know as milk. He also said that whole milk is about 3.25% condensed milk blended with water and 2% is 2% condensed milk blended with water, and so on. It sounds reasonable but is it true.

No, this is not true. Pasteurization is the process that takes place when the milk is heated to remove any harmful bacteria that may be in it. All it does is cleans the milk so it is healthy to drink. The percentage has to do with the fat content in the milk and has nothing to do with condensed milk. The milk you buy is true milk, not condensed.

I've never heard this... I think he is confusing CREAM with CONDENSED MILK, because Cream is added back in to bring the fat content up to a certain standard.

Condensed milk is milk that has had a large percentage of the water removed and a sweetning agent added.

Never heard that before. Maybe you should check into the process of pasteurization and see if all the water is taked out of he milk.

No. The two percent is the amount of fat, not the amount of real milk.

Nicki, it is time for MAJOR payback to your friend -- they really pulled the wool over your eyes. You are going to have to try real hard to pay them back, but good luck.
