If that doesn't happen, I wake up many times during the night. try this, it will take some practice, but after a week or so i'd say you'll be sleeping like a baby :D

when you lay down to bed, start from your head and relax every muscle in your body, moving downward towards your feet slowly. take 4 or 5 minutes to do this. visualize it happening: the muslces themselves relaxing and the tension of the day draining away.

sleep will come very quickly :D

I'm no expert, but sometimes it can take me awhile to fall asleep just because I have so much running through my head, and I have a hard time turning my thoughts off. What works for me is first taking a few deep breaths and imagining that every time i breathe out, I'm pushing out all of my stress and tension and thoughts. Then I focus on something that's really boring - usually I visualize a bouncing ball or a swinging pendulum or something, and I count the bounces or swings, very slowly. I guess I'm literally boring myself to sleep, but it usually works.

muscle relaxation...tighten muscles and relax..

take deep breaths, hold it for a few seconds and let it out through your mouth.

and instead of counting sheep try this: Think of categories (music titles, movies, shows, actors) and start with the first letter of the alphabet and go down.

You can try taking Melatonin. It is a natural sleep remedy you can find in the vitamin aisle. They are not addictive like sleep aids and will put you out like a light.
