You wouldn't be converting per se, because you both are Christian. If you become a Copt, you will be changing denominations, but not changing religions. Now if he was Muslim and you became one too, then yes, you would be converting to another religion.

I don't know the Coptic beliefs, but I get the impression it's similar to RC, since it's basically orthodox Christian. Are you a Protestant? There are more similarities than differences between the two.

Just because you marry a person doesn't mean you're converting. From what little I know about Copt, both of you are Christians. As long as he believes like you believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God born of Mary the virgin who came to earth died on the cross and rose again three days later to save humankind from sin then I think it should be all good. You should know the bible says to be equally yoked and that doesn't just mean that you should both be Christians but both on the same level of maturity spiritually. Hope this helped.

depends. You technically can marry anyone of any religion. No conversion is neccesary in the eyes of the law in this country. If you intend on making it official in Egypt, you may have to convert. My friends just got married, she is Christian and he is Muslim. They did not change their religion and incorporated both beliefs in the ceremony. Its a very beautiful blend and makes for beautiful children.

It depends on how devout the two of you are. The Coptic church is one of the three Catholic churches. It's very similar to the RCC except for the Vatican business.

Mixed religions can work out fine until you have kids. Then it tends to create problems.

Yes they are Christians, but have many different customs. You may find yourself a victim of "culture shock".

Technically does not cut it in a marriage relationship. If his beliefs are not exactly as yours, then you will be unequally yoked.
