Highest standard of living; most personal freedoms (although vanishing daily). And the "land of opportunity" nonsense is so untrue.

The US is the only country founded on an Ideal. That foundation has created a country which allows individuals to pursue their individual goals (typically financial) more freely than any other country. It is the most level playing field (not perfectly level) for those striving to achieve.
The resulting strong economy and individual freedoms (get a grip bush-haters, its still not China) are very attractive to people living in poor countries with class based societies.
Whether that economic success actually delivers on the pursuit of happiness is another matter.

We're not taking orders from some dictator or mullah who uses every trick ever invented to make sure he's kept at the top for the rest of his life - - at the expense of the people. Either support him or loose your life.
Where else can you call the Glorious Leader an idiot in public, and have everybody laugh ? Try it in Saudi Arabia or Syria.
Here we have friends of many religions without ever knowing or careing which church they attend. In Iraq. that's the first thing everybody has to know.
France, Germany, and Spain among other nations see big problems coming up, but pretend not to notice them. They prefer to leave America do all of their fighting for them.
So everybody loves to hate America and wish they were part of the greatest nation in the world.
