You gonna have to find the deepest part of a SUPER deep lake. They are definatly more active right before the sun comes up or right after it goes down. Try a jig and minnow.

Most people go deep in the hot summer days, but that sometimes isn't the ticket. I have caught them deep as well as shallow on hot days. Basically it depends on the angle of the sun. High in the sky, they escape the rays and go deep. When the sun first comes up, a lot of times you can find those eyes in the shallows where the bait fish are at. They aren't dumb and they gotta eat too. I never EVER fish deeper then 18-20 and have fished walleyes as shallow as 4-6 foot. Usually in the dogs days of summer you really have to slow things down, lindy rig, spinner and a worm always work well. Hook the worm just once or twice on one end and let that tail dangle. Lot of times they just suck on that tail for a bit, don't get anxious and set the hook right away, give them some line and let them chew on things. Once you think they have had it for a good minute or two, with slack line, reel tight and let them have it. Even find a nice hole and bobber it for a while. Have to use a slip bobber but it is a fun way to fish. Usually if you don't get out before ten in the morning you pretty much in my experience might as well not go. Ten or before is key, the earlier the better, remember that sun angle. The higher it gets, the deeper they go. If the walleyes do retreat to DEEP DEEP water, i don't fish them cause you have to use down riggers and to me that is just cheating and unsportsman like. Just my opinion. Try those things out and you should have some luck. If not, just try the super market or a nice cafe or something. They seem to have walleye a lot of times.
