It is my opinion that its hypocritical to have marijuanna illegal in the USA. I would say that if I had to rank MJ, acohol, and cigarettes they would go in this order (worst to not as bad):
Cigarettes
Alcohol
Marijuanna
So, do you agree that if Marijuanna is illegal that alcohol and cigarettes should be as well?

You have to be really stoned to not be able to handle a car. Like obviously intoxicated. Anyway, they do have a saliva test, but it is complicated because they don't no where to draw the limit.

i really feel that it's because the people have been growing their own and have gotten so good at it, that they would continue to grow their own if it was legalized, so the goverment(us) couldn't effectively tax it.
i've never been a pot smoker but i do know that at least half the population of the us are. at this stage you have them in all walks of life, from teens to elderly. i think the us government is out of touch in this respect.
i can understand perfectly why the government wouldn't want people addicted to narcotics, no one does, but the current prohibition on mary jane is rediculous.
they want pot illegal, yet they allow methodone clinics to opperate in the us. that doesn't make sense to me, as a matter of fact it sounds crazy.

Put it all in an ABC store environment, so it can be controlled and taxed. Prohibition proved that if the people want it, they will get it. Drugs are drugs, but I don't see on the news many stories about "Joe Blow" catching a pot buzz and loosing his mind, then shooting his family and children. Sadly, you can read this story about every Monday though, involving alcohol. Pot is illegal because it represents the far east and the religions from that region that use it. Alcohol is legal, because the settlers were European, where drinking was common and accepted. Its all about education of the young, and treatment for those who find themselves abused by the substance, instead of being the abuser.

This is such a debatable question. i think it should be legal, i think it causes less damage than ciggs & alcohol, but is still bad 4 our brain cells. if it was legal then we could use the sales tax 2 bring down our national debt! how is ok 4 medicinal purposes, but not recreational? the soldiers in the past wars used 2 blaze up (prob not the smartest thing 2 give a paranoid causing drug 2 men w/ guns). no, they shouldn't make alcohol illegal, thats y there r sooo many laws that come w/ drinking. and now they're puttin out so many anti-smokin adds that that may just take care of itself. anyhow weed legal! plus there would b far less drug dealers on the streets tryin 2 get at our kids!

sexy for you is right! It's all about money, and they want to call pot smokers criminals. damn money hungry politicians.
Anyway the gov't has so many people brainwashed in to thinking that alcohol is "ok" and seperates it from other "drugs" It's ok for my mom for me to drink alcohol in the house (and i have alcoholism in my family) but to do marijuana, she would faint. That's how bad it is, but my mom is a little older.
I don't think that the others should be illegal, because that would just cause more problems and drug wars. What would all the alcoholics and cig. addicts do then? Riot? We would have to make another prison the size of Texas to fit all of the nicotine and alcohol "criminals" that would get arrested. Anyway in the Netherlands and Denmark I think, where all drugs are legal they don't have any problems with drug wars or anything like that......or even crime.

they tried to make alcohol illegal at one time and that didnt work out at all. Huge black market production of it, and it just caused more problems than it was worth. Marijuana is practically legal anyway, at least here in CA. One of my friends was driving and his friends were smoking it in his car and they got pulled over. The cop didnt do anything except take the weed. I've talked to some other ppl that live around here in SD and heard the same story.

First off, cigarettes don't impare your ability to operate a motor vehicle. Alcohol does, but they can test you for it, and lock you up if you are impared.
Pot impares you, but THEY DON'T HAVE A ROAD TEST FOR IT. Which is one of the reasons they won't legalize it. As soon as they figure out a way to test you, how much to ya wanna bet that you'll be able to buy a pack of 20 at the 7-11?

Well in Santa Monica, CA it's illegal to smoke at the bus stops, in movie lines, ATM machines, the beach, outdoor restaurants. Back in Prohibition era alcohol was illegal and then made legal. So who knows about Marijuana.

I think it should be legal, other drugs should remain that way. But I've heard about more deaths from people smoking cigs, drinking and driving, and death by intoxication. How many times have you heard of any of these types of deaths caused from smoking wacky tabacky

I think they should be...but too many people are hooked on cigs and alcohol. There'd be a HUGE black market that the gov't could neither stop nor make money from. However many states are banning smoking in public places....baby steps...
