They say that breakfast is the most important meal. Its your source of energy for the day. Some people cannot eat breakfast the minute they get up, as is the way with me. I have to be up for a while before I can eat breakfast. Not everyone is hungry when they first wake up either.
I think its an individual thing and not something that is timed. It doesn't matter if you eat breakfast when you first get up or when you feel hungry, as long as you eat BREAKFAST.

I'd say if you are going to eat breakfast eat it within about a half hour of waking up. If you say wait until you are hungry then it is more eat a light snack before lunch, or wait until lunch. See breakfast is BREAK the FAST. The fast being the time from dinner until you wake up. As to the within a half-hour that gives you time for things like preparing it and waking up and deciding what you want. Of course if you take a shower first you have a sliding scale as to how long because you have to consider the time of the shower as well. On the other hand I say eat then take your shower and brush your teeth. After all who wants to eat after they brush. You'd either just get your teeth dirty right after you brushed them OR you have to consider that yucky taste that resdue will give it. I mean haven't we all had that taste when there is just a little toothpaste left in our mouth.

When my dad lived on a farm he had to do chores before breakfast and he was always good and hungry by the time he got to eat. My mom used to worry that I didn't want to eat as soon as I woke up. When I went to a high school where they served breakfast I would walk two miles to school and then be ready to eat. Now I try to arrange my schedule so that I can get some exercise or do some work before breakfast. Our primitive ancestors had to hunt or gather something in the morning before they could eat. I think it's more natural to work up an appetite before you eat breakfast.

I lived with my father for many years and he would always take me to McDonald's for breakfast, he would always say "breakfast is the most important meal of the day".
Breakfast was always 1 hour away from wake up, so I am conditioned to get hungry after I have been up for 1 hour. I have tried to eat immediately after awaking, to no avail, I'm not hungry yet.
I will also eat breakfast meals (eggs, etc.,) anytime of the day or night.

I'd say about an hour after you've woken up. That gives you time to have a cuppa coffee, have a shower, read the paper, listen to the news, do those things that are most important for first thing in the morning. Just make sure you do eat breakfast because that helps to kickstart our metabolism and helps to keep us skinny.

You should eat within the first hour of waking up. You've been fasting for approximately 8 hours, and your body needs food for fuel. If you wait too long to eat, or skip breakfast, your body eventually starts looking toward other sources for fuel, namely your muscle tissue, which is easier for the body to cannibalize than fat. You really need to eat something every 3-4 hours to keep your metabolism high.

You'd probably be hungry after you've been fasting (abstaining {do without} from food) for a while. Presumably you'd been sleeping. After you woke up you'd become hungry from fasting and would want to break this fast by eating.
So I guess that it would be you'd eat when you were hungry unless there were special circumstances...such as: You had to eat at a certain time in the morning (when you were not hungry) because you would not be able to eat again for quite some time.
