I have had periods for the last year that are usually about 24 to 26 days apart....before that they were regular as clockwork...every 28 days....occasionally would go 32 or 33 days apart...this month 38 days...any chance that I may be pregnant? Haven't been trying....use spermicide.

Also, I have taken two pregnancy tests this week......on days 34 and 37...both negative....however, I did the tests in the afternoon.

Yes, you could be pregnant. Women can conceive naturally right up to menopause, which you haven't yet reached if you were still menstruating until recently. Spermicide isn't the most effective contraception.

However it could be that you are reaching menopause, generally cycles become irregular for a few months-years before stopping completely.

Buy a test!

Best wishes.
