Hello,

If you are in the united kingdom they do perform the p24, the will also do a duo test, which is a p24 and hiv 1 & 2 . The results seems in your favour.

If the results came out positive that is conclusive, because they will do other tests as well just to be very accurate.

If it came out negative it is in your favour, normall anitbody is ususally detected within 48 hours and p24 look for the actual virus it self the prsence i think.....and they did a normal antibody test ...the test is 99.8% accurate..for total peace of mind i would recommend your friend taking another one in two months time..yes i am not saying the test were wrong they are accurate its only 99.8% ...

take care

The P24 is an early screening tool for HIV and is fairly reliable. However, you haven't mentioned results. Are they available? The chances of HIV infection are low even with a "dirty" needle. And please define "dirty". Your and your friend's definition may not be the same as mine.

About your friend's unstable mother, she should report her to the police. If what you say is true, then this is a serious matter and should be addressed.

It depends on what you were exposed to.
