I am a Buddhist, my wife is a Wiccan/Pagan, and one of my best friends is a devout Christian, and we can sit a discuss the differences in our beliefs without animosity. Yet in public forum and discussion so much time is spent with one group telling all the others why they are wrong and evil and (insert your favorite adjective here)? If Jesus taught to love and care and forgive, and Buddha taught understanding and peace, and Pagans live by the idea of Harm None, why fight?

it is free will. God gave free will and we get to choose what to do. we can listen to others and do not need to follow. It is rather sad if you ask me.If we were better to each other there would not be so many murders rapes and other mean things out there

Hoping not to be categorized as hostile, understand the following to be said in gentle, respectful tones.

I am not so sure that there is so little difference as you may think between the three religions you mentioned or the many other religions of the world. Though there are many who would relegate Christ to the role of teacher/friend/guide (possibly your friend, the christian, though I hope not), that is not what he has said about himself. I think it is summarized best when he says, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No man comes to the Father except by me." (John 14:6) And while people who choose the name of Budhist or Wiccan or Christian can sit and discuss amicably their beliefs as if there were no real differences, I am certain that Budha or the 'Earth Mother' or the Lord Jesus could not have the same conversation, because at least one would claim that he is the only way and the other two would have to disagree with him.

On the other hand, do I favor calm and reasonable discussion when followers of Christ seek to present him to others? Absolutely. In fact, regardless of what I prefer, we are commanded to take this posture when speaking of the truth of the gospel:

"...but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence; "
I Peter 3:15

I hope that is the mindset that your friend has and that it is understood that even where conversation is civil, it does not mean there is no distinction between true and untrue.

Because some people honestly believe they are trying to "save" people (from what I don't know since this is hell) And they want to get their point across & some people just want to be right all the time. Good for you & your wife & your friend for being intelligent enough to talk things over. Wish everyone else was like that...this world would be a much better place.

properly, i'm no longer putting forward I accept as true with this, yet those persons ought to probable say that it would not remember how a lot we adore human beings and opt to settle for them, that is conceivable that one faith is ideal and others are incorrect. it is not any longer a remember of understanding and peace, that is a remember of someone's' beliefs are precise and others' are faulty. for sure there any many in each and each and every of those religions who ought to assert that many/all religions are a minimum of partly splendid, so we ought to continually include them no longer merely as range yet as easily suggestions in our own adventure to discover God because they recognize something we do not. yet those human beings are not those you're speaking about on your question.

Keep in mind people have different ideas of what tolerance means. Those who expect tolerance to mean embracing every idea and behavior as just fine and dandy, are setting themselves up for disappointment.

But mostly, I think they're imperfect, and I'd hate to imagine what they'd be like without having those teaching in their life.

Best wishes
