There are two different ways to get rid of heart worms that I know of.
1.) is a one time injection that is very strong and could possibly kill your dog in the killing of the heart worms.
2.) is in a series of shots that you get from your vet, and the dog can tolerate this a lot better then the first treatment. I believe this treatment takes 6 months.
3.) after you have rid your dog of heart worms keep the dog on heart worm preventive all year round, get a blood test checking for heart worms every other year. Good luck.

There are over-the-counter wormers yet i could heavily advise taking a domestic dog to the Vet for a complete verify up. There are a team of photos a domestic dog desires. merely like the sequence of immunization photos somewhat one gets. the possibilities of a domestic dog dying very much strengthen in case you are not getting them their domestic dog vaccinations. There are additionally many kinds of worms that over-the-counter wormers do no longer artwork on. Like Tape worms case in point or heart worms. some worms are interior the blood flow some interior the intestines. A Vet is the superb one to examine and locate out which form of worms your domestic dog has and then do away with the worms.

I assume your pup has been to the vet already to get the diagnosis, your vet should offer the treatment options for your pet.
For a future note - there is a product called Heartguard that you can buy from your vet, it is a heart-worm preventative.

How do you know your dog has heartworm?
In order to find out you must take your pet to the vet and have a blood test done.
They will take blood and look at it under the microscope to see if they can see any microfilage which is immature heatwroms.
If they do yourdog will have to be treated for heartworm by the vet.it is shots of arsenic. You will have to keep the dog crated durring the treatment and they can not run around and play. They need to be kept quiet and crated. It is a series of shots and will take several weeks to cure. Then you will have to have your dog on heartwomr preventative for the rest of his/her life.
Get you pet to the vet if you suspect it is ill. Heartworm can be fatal in some cases.
