My bf is constantly asking me to leave him messages telling him that I love him, how much, that he is sexy, I appreciate him, I am thinking of him etc. i obviously don't want to use those exact words. Girls: What would you say? Guys: What would you want to hear? Seriously

Knock him on the head and move on. Ditch the phone and get out into the real world. Get a back pack on, trek, have a laugh. Plenty of time in later life to sit by a phone hoping someone will call. Do it!! Seriously.

It sounds like he is a tad insecure! Have you done anything to make him feel that way or does it go back to his previous life, relationships, childhood?? Has he been dumped on in the past?
Do you love him enough to try to find out these sort of things? If not, then bail out, because you may do him more harm than good

if you are not comfortable doing it coz you gut instinct is telling you no, then dun.
from my point of view, there's only two possiblities for his actions:
1. he has low self esteem and is hoping that can make him feel better.
2. he wants to show off to his friends.
if his reason is the first one, well, try to say things like "thank you for *insert something he did that was really nice to you in here*."
if his reason is the second one, dun bother saying anything.

I think feedback is important. Otherwise how do we know if we aren't being taken for granted, or if we are on the right track or sliding the slippery slope toward the vale of dumped!
