My 2-year old will set on the potty all day but I cannot get him to go. Right after we take him potty he goes on the floor. Any ideas?

Patience and persistence. Put the potty right in the middle of the room you spend most of your time in and about every 45 minuttes or so sa, "let's go potty now," put him onthe potty and wait for about 10 minutes. Buy him some pull ups and give him lots of praise even for just sitting there and trying to potty. He will soon catch on that this makes mom happy and the next thing you know you will have a surprise in the potty!!

Its very possible that your son isnt ready. We started training my son when he was 2 also, and he never would go in the potty. I finally gave up and every now and then would remind him about what the potty was used for and how once he used it he could wear big boy underwear. One day when he was about 2.5 he decided he wanted to use his big boy underwear (it was spiderman). From that day on he went in the potty, we had one in his room and one in each bathroom. There were at least 2 accidents a day for the first couple of weeks, and then he got better and better at his control. I think letting him know that accidents can happen and not making him feel like a bad boy for doing it increased his confidence. He is now 3 and rarely has an accident and hasnt wet the bed at night in months. When hes ready he will let you know. Try buying him underwear and explaining to him that he can only wear it if he uses the potty. This might light a fire under his butt. Good Luck.

My son like to put Elmo on the potty first and when Elmo is done he will sit down or stand depending on his mood and he will use the potty! So if he has a favorite stuffed animal maybe they can use the potty too! Elmo is even wearing a pair of his underware that had shrunk in the wash.

Patience from you is very impt. I rush into it on my daughter and both she & yselfe went thru lots of crying session. Your son will be ready when he is ready. Is just a matter of early or late. As parents, we need to guide, explain to them with patience. My daughter is 4 now, she still using diapers at night. I'm not rushing into it. I've learn my lesson. Your son is doing great by knowing to sit on the potty, is a step up already. ^_^

you just have to make it fun...like during the weekend...give him treats and stuff to make him have to go a lot...and when he goes...reward him...make it like a game or else he won't want to do it
