Debatable for me. One American, all Australian and one French city vie equally.

San Francisco was just dirty, run down, hustle and bustle without the fun and get up and go. The people were at best indifferent and often rude. Really very disappointingly dreary. When you could see much of it through the constant sea fogs that is!!

All Australian cities are now also very bad. In Sydney a very small area around the harbour seems to have retained a modicum of decency but move a little away from the harbour and the dirt and graffiti is everywhere. Same seems to go for all Australian cities. It used to be such a nice place too!

Lastly I would have to say Paris because it is nowhere near what the French and the romantics try to say it is and the French and Parisians are the rudest people on earth. (Someone on answers asked what the rudest nation on earth was and got 37 answers all saying France!!!).

Anywhere in Jamaica.

It was disappointing because you go there thinking it is going to be this lovely vacation. The whole country is filled with crime, looting, poverty and people who have lost their will as it comes to improving their lot in life.

It is not only disappointing -- it is depressing.

I hate the place.

Madras now it is Chenai. The dirty peoples totally binds of their language. Even if they know other languages but don't speak.

If any autorickshaw guy (driver) who wishes to speak, the other would beat him. It's really one of the most dirtiest city in India.

Second is "Kolkatta" it is not a clean city.......

Its not a city, but Gretna Green! I passed it soooo many times on journey's to scotland as a kid. I finally stopped there last year and it was awful! Very unromantic and a bit freaky.

p.s. sorry if you got married there, I'm sure you'll have better memories than me!

Birmingham. I went there once with a friend. We'd heard great things about the curry houses and wanted to try for ourselves. We found the place to be a dump and the curry was not what we had hoped.

Luxembourg. Apart from a pretty valley the rest of it was yuk. After listening to Radio Luxembourg as a kid I imagined it to be far lovelier than it was.
