Well my parents first wanted to name me Alana, but decided against that. Then, while my mother was in the hospital room my father went to the lobby and while in the elevator saw a sign that it was dedicated to Lauren Debra. He loved the name so he told everyone they named me that, before telling my mother. So she really had no choice, nor any time to think about it.

About 10 years later my mother and I were discussing my name and she told me that story and said that if she had time to think about my name she would have spelled it differently, and started to jot down different spellings of Lauren. She finally came to Loryn, and asked me if I liked it. Me being in 4th grade of course loved it and decided I wanted it forever. So I adopted that spelling, I wrote it on all my homework's, all my tests (except the state tests because there would have been complications if I did it on those).

In 7th grade, at my Bat Mitzvah my parents presented me with documentation that said that they had legally changed the spelling of my name as a Bat Mitzvah gift. And since then Lauren Debra doesn't exist any more, I am now Loryn Debra which is so much cooler! I love it!

In my native American tradition, we are named after the first thing the father sees after the birth of his child. My sister is called Moon Rising, and my brother is Running Deer. That explains my name Two Dogs Humping.

My parents got my name from a movie they saw while Mom was expecting. They liked the sound of the name. I finally saw the movie several years ago. It was terrible, but I do like my name.

My mother saw a movie with Natalie Wood called "Splendor in the Grass" Natalie played 'Deanie' and thats what my mom wanted to name me...now in the movie, Deanie was short for Wilmadean and of course NO ONE in their right mind would name a child that.........so after some figuring........she came up with Dennine........I've found less than a dozen people in my 40yrs with the same name, and none of us spell it the same!

My first name came from my Mom's favourite sister. My middle name came from my uncle(s) Mother's middle name. The first name means "Pearl" the middle name means "Consecrated to GOD" -- so, I guess I'm a 'pearl consecrated to GOD'
