I have a box with a lock on it. I want to send the box to my friend, but I don't want to send the key with it because I am afraid of losing it. Can anybody show me how to send the box safely with the key and yet my friend can still open the box without the key?

Put the locked box and the key in another box. But put the key under the locked box, seal securely and send.

Use Tape. Tape the key to the box. I know you said you didn't want to send the key, but the last sentence says you do.

Make a copy of the key at a locksmith, so you both have a copy of the key. Then, tape one key to the box when you send it.
