Dogs gestation period is 63 days. Why did you wait until the pups were whelped before asking for info? You said "this is my first time!" Sounds like you bred her intentionally & plan to do so again. Do you have buyers for the 3 yet or just plan to advertise on here, in the form of a "help"question, hoping someone will ask "what breed?" If she only had 3 she is either a toy dog or something is wrong. Could have a stuck pup which will kill your dog or she isn't a good breeder. Regardless, take them to the VETERINARIAN & get "real" help. Next time do your homework BEFORE breeding your precious b-tch.

In the next 24-48 hrs, take her and the puppies to the vet for a ck up. He/She can determine if any puppies remain inside mom (if she does, she could die).
LEAVE mom alone! You are human, she is not...she listens to her instincts.
The only time you should intervene, is if she is not taking care of the pups, or starts to kill them. Mom came programed to take care of pups.
Make sure mom is on a high quality puppy food!...plenty of water-water makes milk...if she gets sick from the afterbirth and starts vomiting, get unflavored pedilite(sp?) although she may not like the taste, keep it in front of her.
Newborns? Give mom some cottage cheese (read in a breeding book, but don't recall the exact reason...did this with my Rotties-last litter 5yr ago)...small dog, 2-3 tbsp 2-3X a day (larger, you make the call).
Your puppies should do fine.
Now, is mom a registered dog? If not, get her fixed....PLEASE!
If you wonder why, go visit your local animal shelter!

As long as everyone is breathing then things should be fine. Mama's natural instincts will kick in and she'll know what to do. Make sure you offer mama food and water because she probably won't leave the whelping area for up to a day or so. If she lets you examine the pups umbilical cord stubs to make sure all the bleeding has stopped. If not tie them off with a sterile(soak it in peroxide) piece of thread. Just let mama do her thing. If you have any concerns just call your local vet. They will tell you all you need to know. Good Luck!! And Congrats!!
