Ours had the same problem.
Don't let them sit in there too long. They get old, and might have absorbed the taste from the food in the freezer (if that's where it is). Or they just got stale, if ice can do that.

Water in ice trays have time for some of the chemicals to evaporate. In an ice maker the water is not exposed to the air. So on days they put the chlorination in the water makes the ice cubes taste bad.

My problem was the same as "towel42's", the ice was just too old. I just usually dump it out if it has been in there too long (during the winter month's especially...). before letting it fill back up again. During hot weather, it usually is not a problem...the ice maker sometimes has trouble keeping up with our demand.
