Considering that, upon examination, the doctor observes that the child he has just delivered has genitalia consistent with that of other females of the species, it only follows that he would announce that 'it's a girl.' Viewed logically, a case can probably be made, then, that the period of discovery for the child has begun which will shape her emotionally, sexually, and psychologically. As she matures, and her features take on an appearance normally associated with girls, or women, it's only to be expected that she would be identified as such. If that's stereotyping, then old Shirley was right on the money.

What are the options? To call a girl a boy? Shirley Chisholm had issues of her own. Oops! I referred to her as a female...an obvious mistake. My sincere apologies.

Ditto for boys. Stereotyping is an unfortunate side effect of the human brain which was designed to classify everything it encounters.

The comment sounds negativity about female. Apparently, the context is trying to put all females into inferior category in the society and their birth is not worth.

I don't understand what is wrong with alot of the sterotypes of woman. I like being feminine.I believe that every woman can be what they want to be and saying it's a girl is something you should be proud of. We are strong yet gentle. You are who you are and both female and males have their good points and bad. Depends how you use them.

no. The quote is saying that it is the doctor who puts the stereotyping of the world on the child.

interesting yet true. women are at a constant stereotype. it has gotten alot better over the years but its never going to stop. i just have comfort in knowing that i am better than that and people who judge me are only expressing it out of there own insecurities in themselves. i love every aspect of being a women emotionally, sexually and physiologically.

It's convoluted, but unfortunately true... But this isn't a pity party for the female gender- stereotypical sh*t just drives us to be better women!

Yeah. I guess that's true. I like being a girl in this society though. Perfect balance for me. I have challenges and the ability to conquer them.
