Peanut and jelly (or just plain jelly) sandwiches with a glass of ice cold milk, preferably chocolate. They'll love it!! Plus you can vary the sandwich by using marshmallow instead of jelly or jam.
Good luck!!

It has been 108 for the last couple of days with the heat index. We definitely plan what we cook around how hot it is. If I make biscuits and gravy for breakfast, I will pop in a pie when the biscuits are done so I don't have to heat up the oven twice. We bbq some, but also eat a lot of salads since we are working outside too. We took some damage to our privacy fence in a bad storm, so on days when we are working outside, it is just salads, nothing heavy. It is a hard decision to make pizza. We also have to pay attention to when we run appliances as the electric company has asked people to try not to run things during peak hours. I usually run my dish washer once a day, but now do it earlier, and I try not to run the dryer after 300pm which is when peak time starts. We also have to think of how we cook because we can't drink the water here, so we cook with bottled water. That has changed how I cook a lot because I have to think of the cost of water. I made spaghetti today, and it was a big decision to use two gallons of water, one to cook the noodles, and one to rinse them. I don't use my crock pot as much as I used to. I couldn't live without my microwave though. We have been eating a lot of cereal for breakfast so I don't heat up the kitchen in the morning. I hate cereal, I wasn't raised eating it, so I just hate it. I hope you get some rain and relief from the heat where you live.

Sounds like the time for an indoor picnic! Get a blanket or large tablecloth and spread on the floor somewhere (we use the living room). Make sandwiches that the kids like, pbj or something else the kids like. Add a bag of chips or fruit (apple slices, grapes, orange slices etc.) and maybe cookies for dessert. Pack it in a picnic basket or cooler gather up everyone and have yourself an indoor picnic! Use paper plates, plasticware and other disposable items as well so you don't have to send much time in cleaning up when you are done!

Why not make a plate with crackers, cheese, some cut up fruit, maybe some cold-cuts cut into shapes and let them eat on the floor on a blanket. An indoor picnic of sorts.

Kabobs. I use the things you would put onto a sandwich like ham, tomatoe, pickles, anything that will go on the stick. chedar cheese tends to break. but other cheeses would work. I let the kids make there own and they just loved it.
