RG11 is a thick coax cable, as compared to RG6 which is the current standard used for everyday cable in your house (for television and broadband). it's not necessary to use RG11 unless your house is over 200 feet away from the tap - the connection point on a telephone pole or in a pedestal (used in nicer neighborhoods instead of having wires in the air they run them underground).

RG11 is marginally better than RG6 - it has slightly less attenuation.
