I don't listen to music while flying, I listen to Air traffic Control telling me what the weather is up ahead and calling out traffic for me to avoid.

i don't listen to a mp3 player. I monitor the com radios and sometimes i'll tune in to AM stations on the ADF receiver.

thats not mp3 player. i think u are refering to the headset and mic.
Its to communicate with the Air Traffic Control (ATC) on flight information. Example, they communicate on weather, runway to land, warning signals, etc.
