At this point I think the best thing you could do is take them to see a vet. They could have flea allergies or they could have some sort of food or envirnomental allergy as well. If it is fleas they can be treated with Frontline Plus which is a great product that is very safe for the mom as well as the puppies. If the infestation is really bad it may take a little time to eradicate them totally and you may want to apply the Frontline more often to start with. It last's for up to one month but you may want to apply it every three weeks. Good Luck.

How old are they? If the puppies are over 16 weeks, give them all a flea bath using a flea shampoo.

If they are under 16 weeks, give them a bath with Johnson's Baby shampoo, this will usually kill them.

If this does not work, take them to the vet nd see if they have anything for puppies. The mother can use anything, but if she is nursing, you may not be able to use an adult flea shampoo on her.

Also, try to keep the open wounds on the dogs as clean as possible as they tend to get infected fairly easily.

Do you see fleas? Little brown/black spots that move very fast and can jump?

Our Great Dane puppy started scratching (and whining)until he scratched most of his hair out...we have to grind his nails every 3-4 days to keep them short enough that he does not bleed, we took him to the vet and had skin scrapings done to rule out mange...it is not, he was diagnosed with a "full body" staff infection, he has been on antibiotics 2X a day, Benedryl (3pills-weighs 75 lbs), and a special shampoo for almost a month now, he has improved slightly, but is still scratching like crazy....our vet is on vacation, but bet your boots, that when he is back in his office, we will be there waiting!

We pd $1100 for him, and in the last 5 1/2 months, we have spent about $500.00 on vet bills, and we are not done yet!...expect to pay a lot for your mom and pups!

If she is not a reg. breeding *****, do her and yourself a favor and get her fixed.

Take them to the vet or somewhere that they can be bathed with special shampoo. Your whole house will have to be treated for the fleas because if you don't treat it, they will be infested again. If these are outside dogs, you should try to treat the area outside as well.

If the infestation of fleas is too bad, dogs, especially puppies, can die from it.

Don't wait another minute ... get them treated!

If they had fleas that bad, you would see them. It sounds like they have mites. This can be extremely contagious to other dogs and humans so you should take the worst one to the vet ASAP! They will do a skin scrape test to see what type of mite or fungus or bacteria they have, and give you medication for all the dogs. If you have waited days before taking them in, they probably have secondary skin infections and will all need antibiotics. Look up "demodex" and "sarcoptic" mange to see pictures of what these infections look like.

Make a thick oatmeal paste and give the dogs a bath with it to soothe them while you consult a vet for a treatment.

You need to get them all to a vet. They may have mange, flees, or something else that's needs more attention now. If it's flees, get them flee dipped. The vet can to it in his office. Flees are hard to get rid of. After being flee dipped exterminate their area so they won't become re infested with the flees.
