Do immigrant workers get treated the same way at jobs, and recieve enough respect or do GET TO MUCH respect? If i was a immigrant that went thru the government to live here and did it by the book, would i be treated the same way as a person with fake papers, or no papers(i.e. immigration documents) at all? Would my quality of life be any different, or does that rely soly on how much money i have? Any statistics or books that can back you up n explain better?

I have some friends who are legal immigrants here. They say they feel they are treated just like Americans. Granted, some will have bad luck depending on who the people they encounter here are. I think most Americans are accepting of other people coming here. I, for one, take pride in the fact that America has such a diverse population.
As far as the illegal immigrants go, I feel sorry for those people. Many of them go through so many bad experiences and horrific things to get here only to be told they have to return to their homelands if the are caught. I'm not saying that these people should be given citizenship as a reward for having suffered so much. I believe people should come here legally and those that break the law should not be allowed the same benefits as the law abiding immigrants. I'm just saying, show a little compassion for the illegal ones. Most of them are good people who risk everything to come here to give themselves or their families a better life. Wouldn't you be willing to do the same for those you loved?

Generally, the treatment of illegals in US is left to the states and it is very uneven. In some states, illegals are treated better than citizens and legal residents--e.g. Mass and a couple of other states have declared themselves "Sanctuary States" which means they will use state and federal funds to provide benefits to illegals without any disclosure requirements. This is like bending over to a thief and asking him to stick____up your_____.
Unfortunately, our President and our Congress are both severely compromised on the issue of illegals. Illegals do not vote, but their countrymen do and guess who has the biggest voting block---mexicans. So both President and Congress are winking furiously at this problem.
To illegals I say---have some shame of your mother and father, and stop feeding liks pigs at the free trough. To legals who can vote, I say: question your congressman/woman on theissue ofillegals. I did, and I am satisfied my senator and congressman are both solidly behind immediate enforcement and no more free food for these thieves. So I will support and fund them.
You think calling illegals names is too harsh! Then I am sorry, but your head is between your_____.

Legal immigrants have to work to earn government benefits, illegals do not, they are given whatever they need free, working or not. Your quality of life here in America will depend on your ability to get a job utilizing the highest degree of your education. Life here is very competitive, work is required to become wealthy, it does not drip off the trees.

When it comes down to it man, all legal residents of this country are legal immigrants. Our families came from elsewhere, unless you are native american. As for your quality of life, that's all about how you make it to be. If you had crossed the border illegally, you would be going against your own morals and possibly sink into a depressed state and thusly causing your quality of life to sink exponentially.

My boss is here legally, I believe he is now considered a full citizen of the united states. He is a structural engineer, came to the united states by the book, helps others come here by the book, provides jobs to skilled engineers and drafters, by the book. I respect him by far more than I would that came here on fake papers. I respect my coworkers by far more than I would respect someone that came here illegally. They came here to improve their lives, and they have, because they have done it by the book and are given appropriate rights. If you come here off the books or illegally in any manner, you are only hurting yourself.

White people immigrated to the United States without any one's permission, and the Indians still gave them corn. Maybe the same principles are at work in the modern day.

It does not matter if an immigrant is here illegally or legally- they all get treated poorly- it's not right! A human being is the same with or without papes!

They ARE ILLEGAL. They are treated more like Americans than they should be. Illegal= criminal. I don't see any reason why some people don't think the two go together.
