Technically they'd be ankle protectors, to protect the joint that sticks out at the back of their leg. The chicken equivelant of the knee is much higher up the leg, protected by muscle and feathers. And they'd need an appropriate helmet, of course.

definitely, a chicken should always follow the safety guidelines. Keep in mind that a chicken 's knees bend the opposite direction than ours, so the kneepads will be facing backwards!
