Absolutely. I was admitted into NROTC (Navy Reserve Officer Training Corps) straight out of HS with a 2.7 GPA. And I have friends with worse GPAs who still made it into the Academy. And even more who attended OCS (Officer Candidates School) after completing undergrad. Personally, though, I recommend the Academy or ROTC - that way the military pays for your degree.

And join the Navy. The Chair Force is for fat losers and would end up sticking you in space-based weapons - meaning your entire career would be spent in a room with 2108450 other people, monitoring the orbits of satellites (and that's if you're lucky).

The navy offers you much more interesting job opportunities. They run a lot of electronic intelligence ops - meaning that you could end up on a spy ship off the coast of an enemy country, cracking intercepts between leaders. Or you could end up in the air in an EA-6B Prowler, jamming enemy communications and radar and waging electronic warfare.Navy CS personnel manage government networks, run nuclear reactors, and keep the giant aircraft carriers afloat.

I dunno about you, but travelling the world with the cuuting-edge force that is the US Navy sounds a hell of a lot more interesting than sitting on your *** in a Chair Force base, reading satellites' system reports.

P.S. Don't listen to the guys who say that it's impossible to do. Trust me - the armed forces still commission tens of thousands of officers per year. All you need is a decent SAT score and a strong desire to serve your country. If I could get into ROTC, anyone can. Good luck, and I applaud your patriotism.

Yes, it is. You need to take the ASVAB, which is the test they give you if you are considering joining. Your scores on that will tell you what you are able to do in the military. If you want to become an officer, then you need to have a certain score on the test. You will also need a college degree and will be sent to OCS, an officer training program upon graduation. If that doesn't appeal to you, then you can get involved with ROTC, Reserve Officer Training Core (I think). If you go for this option, then you will train while you go to college and will be forced to get a major or minor in military science. When you are done with your degree, you will then become an officer. The third option is applying for a military academy. You will be paid to attend school and get a degree from there. Both my father and mother were officers in the Navy, and they loved their time in. When I was growing up, we lived in Australia, Hawaii, Alaska, Rhode Island, and Ohio. There are really a lot of opportunities to travel and challenge yourself. I am currently in the Army and, if possible, plan on transfering when I graduate from college and becoming an officer. I am a globe-trotter, and I know I will be able to see the world with the Navy. Good luck!!

I believe all you need is a college degree....

Now for actually joining as an officer I dont see that happening; atleast in the AF.

I know both the AF and Navy are making manning cuts. Trust me I know first hand which is why I have to switch over to the Army. I dont mind the change though I have looked into switching branches in the past to the Army and now I cant wait.

Just an example of the cuts the AF is making....
By 2007 the AF is cutting 4000 officers and about 3000 enlisted just in the rank of E4-E5

Yes you can become an officer. Either is a good choice. You will probably travel more in the Navy than the AF. Good Luck. I had a great time while I was in.

Yes you can as long as you have the degree. The Air Force would give you more choices of jobs than the navy. Unless of course being out at sea for 6 months is something you crave.

Yes it is. Get some education behind you first and you can come out of boot camp with rank.
I like the air force better myself. More family oriented.
